New iPods from Apple

Apple just updated it’s entire lineup of iPods and significantly reduced the price on some of them. They range from $79 to $399 and hold up to 40,000 songs! 75% of all music players sold are iPods! I don’t feel like I’m locked in to staying with Apple’s iPod/iTunes combo, I feel like they always have the best think out there.

The 2 higher end models, the iPod touch and the iPhone can now buy music and download it straight to the iPod from the internet. You’re in a Starbucks, you hear a song you like, you pull out your iPod, and you can now buy the song right from your iPod and listen to it in a matter of seconds. Or (a more likely scenario for me) you’re in church getting ready for an event and somebody says, “Hey we should have Beach Boys songs on as they come in the room.” You just pull out your iPod or iPhone and purchase them and play them over the sound system seconds later. (I’ve done this several times before, but only because I don’t leave home with out my laptop. Now, no laptop required)

The photo above is a little small, but will open up bigger so you can read the pricing and sizes.

Asking for help on a new venture…

I’m dabbling with the idea of starting a Mac consulting business on the side called MacsOut, just on a client by client basis. I think I’ll specialize in helping people who want to switch to their first Mac. I’ve done this many many times over the years with missionaries and people in ministry. However, I’d like some more experience helping people who aren’t family, friends, or in the ministry. (i.e. People I could charge! HA!)

So if you know anyone that might be interested in switching to Macs, I would love to help them. I hope you know by now that I try not to push Macs on anyone. Since I’m just getting started as a business, I wouldn’t charge them anything for asking questions. If they wanted me to do any setup or training, I would need to charge for that. You can just direct them to my website. Thanks! Check out MacsOut.com

New Blog Features

In the right column, I’ve added two new features. The first is a way to sort posts by a couple labels (or subject matter). So if you want to see all the videos, click that link and it will show only video posts.

The second feature is a music player that you can use to stream music to your computer (broadband required). I’ve selected like fifty songs for it to play. Either I really like the song or it’s by an artist I wanted to try out. My apologies if one of those experimental songs isn’t appropriate. The service is pretty cool (finetune.com). You can go to their website, look up an artist, and it will make up a playlist of music by that artist and others like them. Admit it, you’ve always wanted your own radio station!

The Phone Revolution

Apple impressed everyone by introducing the new iPhone. It’s an amazingly thin widescreen video iPod with only one button. All other features are controlled by using your fingers to just touch the screen. Beyond a phone it has broadband internet with a full browser, blackberry-styled push email, and chatting styled text messaging. Another cool revolutionary product by Apple!
