Super Bowl Champs!!!!

They did it! The Indianapolis Colts are Super Bowl Champions!!! Last night the Gerbers, the Bouterse, and Sue Ann huddled around the TV and watched the Colts beat the Bears in the pouring down rain. It’s been said many many times (at least here), but it’s so nice to root for the home team that is lead by such great people. Tony Dungy did more than just thank God during an exceptance speech. Dungy used the spotlight already on him to point to his relationship with God. It was not wimpy, not for show, it was just who he is.

Worth Every Penny

During the off season, the Colts fired the “most accurate kicker in NFL history” and signed Adam Vinatieri, the best clutch kicker in NFL history from the Patriots. He wasn’t cheap, but he hasn’t missed in our stadium this whole season! Tonight he was the only scorer for the Colts with 5 field goals. The longest was a 51 yarder that actually bounced off the bottom bar and went in. For those of you outside of Indiana, the Colts won their second playoff game and are headed for the AFC Championship game next week!

Happy 2007

We had a great Christmas at the Gerber’s. Hannah got her rocking chair from Nana and Papa and she loves Rockin Out every day in it. One of the many fun moments at the Gerber’s was watching Hannah play with all her cousins. At Thanksgiving time, she was more in her own little world. But, that wasn’t so this time, her and Clara played so well together. We had to seperate them at least once a day because they wanted to play with the same toy, Great minds think alike. However, they always ended up giving each other great big bear hugs and went to a new toy.
We are now trying to get back on a semi schedule and are in morning of our beloved Buckeyes. Since the start of the New Year, Hannah has had her first open cut right below her lip. (First Blood) Hives all over her body meaning a trip to the Dr. and her first Chucky Cheese experience. WOW, we are going to have one fun Year. Happy New Year Everyone

A Rough Month!

It’s been a rough month for the Gerbers. It started with the National Missionary Convention that created a lot of stress for Katie and I. The next week was Thanksgiving and while it’s great to see family, there was a lot of travelling around Ohio. At the end of that week, Hannah came down with strep throat. By the end of that next week I had it too. The following week I was still sick and Katie got it too. Hannah and Katie got better quickly, but my symptoms changed but I didn’t get better. Turns out my normal cold turned into a very painful viral infection. By the end of last week Hannah was diagnosed with Fifths Disease. It’s a viral infection that makes her cheeks red and little red spots all over her abdomen. She’s not contageous, she acts fine, and it last for a couple weeks to a couple months. Oh, and the Colts have lost 3 out of their last 4 games!

Well, that’s it. That’s been our month. Some good things still happened and we have some pictures and stories to post. We’ll get to that very soon.

Go COLTS!!!

I wrote before about how special it is to have your team be the best in the country, referring to the OSU Buckeyes. Now it is that much more special to have the Buckeyes #1 AND the Colts as the only undefeated team in the NFL! And (knock on wood) it’s so fun to root for the Colts because they’re lead by an intelligent, selfless, hard worker, Peyton Manning, who only makes the regular news when he’s giving to charity. And then there is his trusty sidekick, Marvin Harrison, who made one of the most amazing touchdown catches ever last night.

#1

Redemption!
Last year OSU lost a tough game to Texas early in the season. This year we have a big time quarterback, Troy Smith. It’s pretty special to have your favorite team ranked #1 in the country and convincingly beat #2.

Go Bucks!

Colts Blues by Katie

Well, yesterday was a sad day for us. Yes, our beloved Colts were beaten by the Pittsburgh Steelers. Because of our loss I now get to bake cookies for Aunt Sue. For those of you who don’t know about our Aunt Sue, she lives about an hour away from Pittsburgh and we had a little wager going. I lost, so now I am making cookies for Aunt Sue that will be in the mail some time soon:)

Our great friends Uncle Joe & Aunt Helen hosted our little Colts play off party and Helen watched Hannah since she wasn’t ready for the nursery and public outing. Nana and Papa came over afterwards to comfort us and to bring us some cheer, OK it was pizza and it worked. We played a rousing game of Shout about movies, (which is a GREAT game that you can find pretty much anywhere) and had some laughs.

Needless to say we are handling our loss pretty well. We will stay positive and wait for NEXT YEAR!!!!

The Colts Blues

What an awful way to go out. The highly entertaining Colts offense didn’t perform. The worst part is having to leave everything up to Vanderdjat (sp). It’s not his fault. Peyton should get that first down on 3rd and 2 with 2 timeouts. Pittsburg couldn’t stop them on that drive if we had gotten the first down. When you have all the talent in the world healthy and rested and perform pathetically, it’s hard to get excited about next year.

Well until next year…

Upgrading to a Video Blog *VIDEO*

Click here to see a video of Hannah playing!

Hannah’s getting better just in time for the Colts playoff game and for both grandparents visits. Today Katie and I caught up on all the sleep we missed this week. Later!

The file is a QuickTime compatible MPEG 4 file. If you have troubles viewing it, update your version of QuickTime here.

Oh and yes the video is iPod compatible for all of you with video iPods!

1st Fever

Well, these past couple of days have been a new experience for us as parents. What do you do when your child is sick? Do you call the Doctor? When should you give her medication? The answer to all of these things is relax and read all you can in our wonderful baby books and if you are worried call the Doctor, that is what they are there for. Hannah had a little fever of 100.8, and just wanted to cuddle (which is just fine with Pat and I). We gave her some medication and the fever has gone down now. In the process we have discovered some white bumps on her gums. Yes, I believe Hannah is cutting teeth. So maybe the next time a few of you see her she will have toothies (Grandma taught me that word)!

Have a blessed day- Go COLTS!!!!
